RareCloud Returns to LowEndBox With a Rebuilt Cloud Platform, New Console, Kubernetes, MCP, and Up to 4x Credit

rarecloudRareCloud has been around the LowEnd community for years, but today’s announcement is a lot more than another hosting offer. The company says it has spent the past year rebuilding pretty much everything from the ground up, including its customer portal, cloud platform, and automation stack.

Fast & Affordable Web Hosting

Get Hosting

The existing KVM VPS, dedicated servers, hosting, and proxy products are all staying exactly as they were. The big change is the addition of a full OpenStack-based cloud platform with hourly Cloud VMs, Managed Kubernetes, Load Balancers, Block Storage, private networking, reserved IPs, and firewalls, all managed through a new in-house console instead of WHMCS.

So they’ve got all the things!  I think these kinds of extra offerings is what separates a copy-of-a-copy-of-a-copy VPS providers from those who’ve truly built platforms.

Built for Developers

One thing that stands out is the amount of automation RareCloud has built into the platform.

Everything revolves around a public REST API, with a Go CLI, Terraform provider, and even an MCP server if you’re living la vida agentic. If you’re experimenting with Claude, Cursor, or other MCP-compatible AI tools, you can hand them scoped credentials and let them provision Cloud VMs, resize instances, manage Kubernetes clusters, attach storage, configure networking, and more.

The company says the API is the source of truth, with the web console simply acting as another client.  And that’s the right way to build.

Cloud Pricing

The new cloud platform starts at €3.99/month for entry-level Cloud VMs. Billing is hourly with a monthly cap, so you only pay for the hours you actually use, up to the advertised monthly price. Managed Kubernetes bills only for worker nodes, while the control plane is free.

The service also includes:

  • Hourly Cloud VMs
  • Managed Kubernetes
  • Block Storage
  • Load Balancers
  • Private networking
  • Reserved IPs
  • Firewalls
  • Linux and Windows VPS
  • Dedicated servers
  • cPanel hosting

Generous bandwidth is included on every plan, with overage billed at €1/TB instead of the egress pricing that many larger cloud providers charge.

Launch Offer

To celebrate the relaunch, RareCloud is offering bonus account credit:

  • Any top-up is doubled.
  • Top-ups of €25 or more are tripled.
  • Top-ups of €100 or more are quadrupled.

The bonus applies automatically on one top-up per account, with no coupon code required. According to RareCloud, the credit can be used across cloud services, new orders, and even renewals of existing VPS, hosting, and proxy services.

The company gives a few examples of what that means in practice:

  • A €3.99/month Cloud VM effectively costs about €2/month after doubling your credit.
  • Their 8 GB Cloud VM works out to €7.50/month with doubled credit or €3.75/month with the maximum bonus.
  • A €29.50/year Starter VPS drops to as little as €7.38/year if you qualify for the 4x promotion.

Global Footprint

Their cloud currently spans 12 locations across North America, Europe, and Asia, including Bucharest, Germany, The Hague, London, New York, Silicon Valley, Phoenix, Dallas, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. The company says Bucharest is its first full cloud region, with additional locations expected to roll out over time.

Final Thoughts

It’s always interesting to see providers move beyond the traditional WHMCS + SolusVM stack.  Sure, we give much love to the garage hoster who lashes together these tools to bring a bare-bones offering to the market, and we will always have a place in our heart for them here at LowEndBox.

But sometimes you need more. RareCloud appears to have gone all in on building its own platform. The combination of OpenStack, hourly billing, Terraform, Kubernetes, and MCP support gives it a much more cloud-native feel than a typical VPS provider, while still keeping its existing hosting products under the same account.

As always, if you’ve tried RareCloud’s new platform, let us know how it’s working for you in the comments below!
